Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Skaters who have newley moved into the StarSkate program are required to wear a CSA approved helmet for a minimum of the first two weeks of skating within the club. Once DFSC coaches have approved no helmet is needed the skater is allowed to forego the helmet. It is recommended to use a Skating Halo for the season of this transition. Skaters who wore a Halo in a previous season will be required to continue to wear it for the first 2 weeks of skating as per the boards decision on safety.
